Pahl Livestock Commercial Cattle Operation
With our large land base, our cattle are raised to be functional and maintenance free. We place great emphasis on strong maternal traits including proper structure, good feet and correct udders. Calving ease, milk production and temperament are all also very important criteria as we select our cow herd, both registered and commercial. Furthermore, a keen eye is kept on stockyards, feedlots and meat plants in order to stay in tune with the trends of today’s markets. This diligence gears our breeding programs toward producing the best possible “Sale Day” outcome for our customers. Approximately 300 bull and heifer calves are wintered each year at the ranch. In total, 120 to 130 heifers are kept to breed in the spring and are continuously sorted as they mature. A select few are sold as registered heifers while the majority are worked into their respective cow herds. As for the commercial steer calves, they are sold off the cows in the fall. We are pleased to say we are always in the top group of producers to sell in our area, and very proud that this group also includes many of our customers. |
